THEME:  RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD: PART II
SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 2:6
“For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.”
REFLECTIONS

As our Creator and God, our well-being is extremely important to Him. The Lord wants the best for each of us. If only we would follow His instructions, we could gain knowledge that would make us wise in life. The Lord guides His people so they can stay safe and wise. Paying close attention to His commandments will give us the knowledge that can save and preserve our lives.

What the Lord requires of us to maintain our relationship with Him is to keep His commands in our hearts. Solomon addresses “my son,” a generic term that applies to all people; he acts on God’s behalf to advise us. In Proverbs 2, he emphasizes the importance of wisdom—its moral worth and the benefits of gaining it. We are encouraged to seek the true worth of wisdom and life.
Proverbs 2:1-5 states, “[1]My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, [2]So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; [3]Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, [4]If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; [5]Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God.”  Any deep search for knowledge will be rewarded. Verse 6 reads, “For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
If only we trusted God, we would gain wisdom from every part of life. Christ Object Lessons, page 114 states: “No one can search the Scriptures in the spirit of Christ without being rewarded. When man is willing to be instructed as a little child, when he submits wholly to God, he will find the truth in His word. If men would be obedient, they would understand the plan of God’s government… Human beings would be altogether different from what they now are, for by exploring the mines of truth, men would be ennobled. The mystery of redemption, the incarnation of Christ, His atoning sacrifice, would not be as they are now, vague in our minds. They would be not only better understood, but altogether more highly appreciated.” God will give you wisdom that prolongs life.
