THEME: PROMISE #102 – THE BEST IS YET TO COME

SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 1:3-4
“[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4]to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.”

REFLECTIONS

Praise God for His promises and faithfulness. One hundred and one (101) days ago, we embarked on a journey of claiming His promises daily. Our target was 101, which we achieved yesterday. There are still many more promises to be fulfilled in every situation we encounter. However, for the rest of this week, we will add four more focused on our salvation and the glorious welcome that awaits all who believe. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the prophet wrote in Isaiah 25:9: “And it will be said in that day: ‘Behold, this is our God; We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.’” This day and event are about to occur any time soon.

Were it not for God’s boundless compassion, mercy, and favor, the human race would find itself obliterated. But His grace has preserved a remnant with which we can identify. What God has done for the lost and rebellious world can never be fully understood, nor can our most profound and sincere appreciation match the totality of His love. It is astonishing that, despite all that God has invested in us, we are often ungrateful and self-centered. Nevertheless, joy remains for the godly, for we have obtained a living hope. God has reserved the best for us in heaven. His grace has been professed over the years, but the final consummation of our salvation is approaching.

Promise #102 acknowledges the fantastic offer of God and the hope that accompanies it. In 1 Peter 1:3-4,10-11, the apostle exhorted: “[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4]to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, [10]Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, [11]searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.” This is the hope that inspired the apostles. Jesus’ life of suffering, death, and resurrection serves as the stamp of the authenticity of God’s promise.

“Abundant mercy” – profusely plentiful, emanating from God’s redemptive initiative, leaves us with hope that we shall receive “an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled,” a bequest that does not fade. If God is real, and He is; if He is true, and He is Truth; then His promise is genuine, authentic, and unfailing. What remains is our preparation, readiness, and fitness to receive the inheritance. Any meaningful inheritance is placed in the hands of someone wise and skilled to manage it. We cannot attain such a precious and priceless inheritance without first acquiring the knowledge, skills, and character to hold it. For those who have accepted the grace of God, the Spirit of Christ is daily fashioning them for the eternal inheritance. By the time it is revealed, God’s people will be heirs of the remarkable inheritance, including eternal life and bliss. Your surrender and faith in Jesus Christ prepare you to access the promised imperishable, unfading, and glorious inheritance in heaven.

MY SONG OF COMMITMENT

SDAH 196 – “Tell Me the Old, Old Story”

LET US PRAY

– Praise and thank God for making you a potential recipient of His everlasting inheritance; pray to abide in Him to equip you for the glory that awaits you;

– Pray for believers in your sphere of influence to work out their salvation with fear and trembling;

– Pray for the proclamation of the Gospel to unreached individuals and communities; pray for ministers and gospel workers, retired ministers, and the transformation of the nation for Christ;

– Pray for families to draw close to Christ while they face life’s challenges, the rescue of young people from drugs, betting, smoking, and other vices; pray for Christ-loving youth, and healing for the sick.
