THEME: KNOW THAT GOD IS OUR HEALER: PART I“
SCRIPTURES:
Psalms 30:2-3 – “[2]O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. [3]O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.”

Jeremiah 17:14 – “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.”
REFLECTIONS

One of the most unpleasant experiences a person could have is to be unwell. The discomfort that an ailment brings, can be traumatic. Sometimes we get sick suddenly, and other times there is a build-up due to various causes including our choices. Under conditions of ill health, the patient becomes fragile, frail, fearful, uncertain, and anxious.  The inability to go about one’s activities is a bane. But to suffer pain in a protracted manner can be heart-wrenching. Praise God. There is hope.

In 2020, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic conveyed a strong message to the world that human beings are not in charge – God is.  The whole world virtually came to a standstill, borders were closed, air transport was grounded, logistics were in short supply, people’s movements were restricted, and people were dying. Christians prayed asking God for help. In several countries, a day of fasting was declared for the citizens to seek the favor of God. We can testify that God helped our nations and the disease abated.

In our moments of desperation, we remember there is a God who is powerful and merciful that we can call upon. He has already given us the privilege to call on Him in the day of trouble so we can present our diseases, pains, and sufferings to Him. King Hezekiah was sick and he was told he would not recover from the disease, “[2]Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord, [3]and said, “Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.” -Isaiah 38:2-3. Following his cry and dependence on God, the Lord sent Isaiah: “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years.” – verse 5. In Christ’s name, you will also be healed with additional years.

There is divine healing for those who seek God, and put their trust in Him. Psalms 30:2-3 affirms, “O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.” By His grace, you shall not go into the grave. He will heal your disease. The good news and our prayer for those afflicted with ill health is that: “[16]The right hand of the Lord is exalted; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly. [17]I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the Lord. [18]The Lord has chastened me severely, But He has not given me over to death.”- Psalms 118:16-18. God is and remains our Healer.

MY SONG OF COMMITMENT
SDAH 254 – “The Great Physician Now Is Near”

LET US PRAY

– Praise and thank God for good health; thank Him for healing you, a family member, a relative, or a loved one; pray for God to grant you optimum health to serve Him;

– Pray for the sick on admission, those in ICU, those going through or being prepared for surgery, children at pediatric wards, the sick in homes, the incapacitated, and anyone afflicted with an ailment;

– Pray for medical personnel – knowledge to diagnose and treat, patience to handle patients, and cooperation with God in the healing ministry;

– Pray for our health institutions and facilities to be in good shape, that God the ultimate healer will be upheld there.
