The Frimpong-Manso Institute, led by Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso, has issued a strong appeal for calm and transparency as Ghana heads towards the 2024 general elections. With the campaign season intensifying following the filing of nominations by key presidential candidates, concerns about the voter register, raised primarily by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), have prompted calls for protests at Electoral Commission (EC) offices nationwide.
While the NDC has the right to voice its objections and protest against perceived flaws in the election process, the institute has urged the party to maintain a balanced approach. It emphasized that grievances should not escalate beyond reasonable demands, as the election process must remain peaceful and credible.
The Frimpong-Manso Institute further called on the EC to consider legitimate concerns from all political parties, fostering a relationship of trust to ensure that the upcoming elections are free, fair, and transparent. Any missteps, the institute warned, could lead to national challenges of significant magnitude, urging all stakeholders to tread cautiously in this critical period.
