WEDNESDAY
THEME: KNOW THAT GOD IS EVER TRUTHFUL“
SCRIPTURE: Numbers 23:19
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
REFLECTIONS

If God were to be a liar and not the embodiment of truth and faithfulness, we would not be experiencing the suffering that we go through as sinful beings. We bear the consequences He said would happen if humans defied His word. When God said in Genesis 2:17, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die,” the devil presented a lie saying “to the woman, “You will not surely die.” – Genesis 3:4. Today, the consequences of sin are clear and overwhelming. Who spoke the truth? Satan’s offer of “You will not surely die” – emphasis on “surely”- landed us where we are.
Whatever God says, is what He would do. God is true and His word must fulfill its purpose. It is rewarding and heartwarming to know that God, the Creator of the Universe, is ever truthful and that is His nature. Our character, unbelief, and doubt rather present God to the world as a “liar.” When we fail to claim His promises resulting in arduous suffering and challenges, we make the world ask, “Where is your God?” Many Christians have taken the name of God in vain contrary to the third commandment (Exodus 20:7) – we are not what we pretend to be therefore, we lack the power thereof to trust God.  Paul describes it in 2 Timothy 3:5 as “having a form of godliness but denying its power. . .” Every cantankerous Christian makes God a liar yet their source of conduct is from Satan, the father of all lies (John 8:44). When His word is not in us we make God a liar (1 John 1:10).
The fulfillment of His promises and His word are evidence of His truthfulness. Truly, “All men are liars” – Psalm 116:11 but God remains truthful.  Remember, “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” If we can only trust Him, and have faith as little as a mustard seed, we will learn to wait on Him, and if we heed His invitation to “Call on Him,” the world will see the true God. God can never lie! It is a reassuring fact. Paul wrote in Titus 1:2, “in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,” – His promises are yes and true! “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” –  2 Corinthians 1:20.

Can you trust His unfailing word? “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” – Malachi 3:6. It gets interesting as you read: Psalms 89:34-35 – “[34]My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. [35]Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David:”  God said to Israel in Deuteronomy 29:5, “And I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn out on your feet.” He gives liberally and fulfills His promises but the one who doubts will not “receive anything from the Lord” – James 1:5-8. You can ride on God’s truthfulness and faithfulness today!

MY SONG OF COMMITMENT

– Pray for the discouraged in your sphere of influence; pray for those waiting on God with their petitions to be patient;

– Pray for peace, love, and trust in God among believers; pray for new Christians, and preachers of the word; pray for Christians to tell God’s faithfulness boldly and confidently.
