THEME: KNOW THAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU FULL ACCESS TO HIMSELF“
SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah 33:3
“‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’”

REFLECTIONS

Make no mistake! It is God who extends to us an invitation to call on Him. Therefore, to call on God for any reason is a privilege we have been given that we should take maximum advantage of. Even though there are eight billion people on our planet now, God is not overwhelmed by their demands and needs. He can handle every need and care; and much more.
Through the prophet Jeremiah, God extends to us some soothing invitations to call upon Him when we are challenged. When we do not see our way clear, our responsibility is not to whine and pine. If anything, He has shown us what to do – call on Him.  Jeremiah 33:3 resonates with everyone in this life: “‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’” Really? It is a rare privilege for a nation’s president to give you access to reach him or her. Unless you are considered a VVIP you cannot have access, but it is not so with our God – the Creator of the entire universe – with many challenges to deal with every second. With all these credentials, He still invites us individually to a time with Him, irrespective of our station, status, race, and nationality.

So, count yourself privileged, honoured, and favoured to have direct access to the throne of God. Before this text, He made a statement to deepen your understanding and appreciation of His invitation.  Jeremiah 31:3 informs us, “The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” The basis of God’s invitation is His undiminishing, unwavering, and indiscriminate love for us. How could you, frail human being, full of needs ignore God’s invitation emanating from His ceaseless love for you?
Know very well that it is no other, than God who asks you to call on Him. God, who cannot lie says, I will answer you. Will you take Him at His word? Then He says, He will show you great and mighty things hidden from you, of which you are completely ignorant. To heighten your faith, He states in Psalms 50:15, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” It is not over yet, Christ restates these texts, affirmatively in Matthew 7:7-8, [7]“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. [8]For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Beloved, what need do you have that you cannot present to God? Do not let Him look like a cruel, uncaring God. He invites you, and He expects a call from you today!

MY SONG OF COMMITMENT

SDAH 477 – “Come Ye Disconsolate”
LET US PRAY

– Praise and thank God for His special invitation to you; thank Him for the privilege to present your petitions, worries, and fears to Him; pray to know God better, respond to His invitation, and trust Him;

– Pray for those who have been battling with some health challenges, patients being prepared for surgery, patients in ICU, and those who have difficulty paying for their medical bills;

– Pray for marriages that face serious challenges, family members with addiction problems, those saddled with unemployment, and families with difficulty to provide for their needs;

– Pray for the nation, its citizens, and peace before, during, and after our forthcoming elections; pray for God’s protection for all your loved ones, and for Christians to share testimonies of God’s goodness.
