The Independent Presidential Candidate Hopeful for the New Vision Movement, Mr. Kofi Koranteng have vowed to change Ghana’s Constitution to prevent it from protecting criminality.
He pointed out that, the reason why both NPP and NDC till now have not been able to change the Constitution is that, it serves their criminality and protect them.
“We want people of Ghana who have served Ghanaians to be held responsible for every financial loss they caused to the State. To be able to do that effectively, we need to change the Constitution that protect them. That is why there is a huge need to change the constitution”.
According to him, the powers bestowed to the President is too much adding that, if care is not taken and a President who does not care about the people takes over, it would be a disaster for the country.
Mr. Kofi Koranteng revealed that, the country currently is in big trouble as it is being going through serious hardship in the last 7 to 8 years under President Akufo Addo and the NPP Administration.
“We need to make the Constitution self correcting so that, people who are not best would not take the advantage of the constitution and that of the people of Ghana”.
Mr. Koranteng disclosed that, the country is facing huge debts and mismanagement saying, people in the leadership position are rapping the country’s resources leading to serious unemployment making the youth to become hopeless.
“So, there is an urgent need to come together as a leadership to arrest the situation. That is why we find the need to inaugurate our political entity, New Vision Movement of which I am the leader today”.
New Vision Movement has been in the system since 2019 and is being supported most by the youth group who are looking for a change.
Mr. Koranteng (born 9 September 1966), is a Ghanaian activist and politician who used to be the chief executive officer of the Progressive Alliance Movement.
He has been a key advocate for the rights of Ghanaians living abroad to be given the chance to vote and be represented in that manner through campaigning for the Representation of the Peoples’ Amendment Act (ROPAA) to be passed.
In the run off to the election in December 2019, he declared his intention to stand for the 2020 Ghana elections as an independent candidate.
