Vivo Energy Ghana Targets Drivers Well-Being

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Vivo Energy Ghana and Shell licensee has launched a new programme called Fit2Drive Wellness in Accra, to promote and enhance the physical and mental well-being of commercial drivers in the country in other to ensure that they maintained optimal health and safety standards while on the road.

The Fit2Drive programme have been designed to include health screening, fitness training, educational seminars among others.

Vivo Energy Ghana through its Fit2Drive Wellness Programme, is aiming at reducing the risks associated with driving fatigue, stress, and other health-related factors that could compromise the safety on the roads.

In a speech read on behalf of Mr. Kader Maiga, the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana revealed that, the wellness of drivers is fundamental in promoting road safety saying, by focusing on physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall health, create a community of safer and healthier drivers.

Mr. Kader Maiga disclosed that Vivo Energy Ghana as part of the Fit2Drive wellness programme, would liaised with the transport unions to organise fitness sessions for drivers at selected bus terminals.

“These sessions will help to enhance drivers’ physical and mental well-being, reducing the risk of accidents caused by fatigue or health-related issues. Regular exercise can improve alertness, reaction times, and overall physical capabilities, making drivers more responsive and resilient on the road. Additionally, promoting healthy lifestyles through fitness sessions can contribute to long-term wellness, reducing the likelihood of chronic health conditions that may impair driving abilities”.

Commercial drivers he indicated, play a vital role in Ghana’s economy by working tirelessly navigating the roads day and night to ensure that goods and passengers reach their destinations safely.

“However, with this role comes great responsibility, as road safety remains an everpressing concern. As we navigate the challenges of the modern world, prioritizing our health has become more crucial than ever”.

The Fit2Drive Wellness Programme initiative according to Mr. Maiga, serves as a testament to their commitment to the safety of all road users.

He urged all stakeholders, including drivers, fleet operators, and regulatory agencies, to join hands in supporting the initiative and its mission. “Together, let us prioritize the well-being of our drivers, ensuring that they are physically and mentally fit to navigate our roads safely”.

Mr. Kader Maiga however, encouraged drivers to take full advantage of the programme to prioritize their health and the well-being of those closer to them. “By doing so, we can collectively ensure a brighter. healthier, and more secure future for all”.
