FRIDAY
THEME: UNITY FOR STRENGTH, QUALITY, AND BLESSINGS”
SCRIPTURE: Psalms 133:1
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!”
REFLECTIONS:
Unity is a concept that keeps society alive and progressive. If you fail to appreciate unity, try disunity. A disunited family, citizenry, congregation, society, and culture is a hell. Disunity is used as a ploy in Satan’s hand to create confusion, disaffection, apathy, suppression, and chaos. Only Satan and his cohorts benefit from disunity. Any genuine child of God will strive for unity because i) it helps to realize God’s purpose for humanity; ii) it brings to the fore the collective strength of humanity; iii) it produces peace, understanding, support, and progress; and iv) gives energy, power, optimism, and strength to defeat our enemy.
Unity epitomizes love, understanding, mutual respect, and the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Every prosperous nation depends on the unity of its citizens for development. Unity brings beauty and finesse to humanity and impacts our common destiny. No wonder the man after God’s own heart, David, in his lovely song of ascent, highlighted this concept in Psalms 133. In verse 1, he wrote: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!” Without a doubt, the Lord blesses His children who live in unity. Wherever unity resides, the quality of life, collective and individual achievements, and the community’s and God’s purpose for life are outstanding and incredibly advanced.
David encapsulates unity’s splendor, lamour, and gloriousness in just three verses. This graphic presentation of unity sends waves of love and admiration, peace and comfort, and joy and hope to those who practice it. It gives nobility to our relationships and makes people think and act responsibly and progressively. Unity promotes pleasantness, patriotism, faithfulness, dedication, and the purpose that defines us as people of God. David likens it to “the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments” verse 2. It refreshes, greases, lubricates, and affects everyone for good.
Never be found on the side of disunity. Make the pursuit of unity a principle in your life. Every Christian must promote unity in the home, neighborhood, community, church, workplace, nation, and association. It diffuses and disperses the aroma of God’s love and blessings. David says in verse 3, “It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing.” Unity is for strength, freshness, growth, and Godlikeness. Jesus prayed: “That they may be one as We are.” (John 17:11,21).
