THEME: PROMISE #78 – THE ANGEL WITH GOOD TIDINGS ON MOTHER’S DAY

SCRIPTURE: Luke 1:28,30
“[28]And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” [30]Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.”

REFLECTIONS:

Today’s devotion is dedicated to mothers as the world celebrates “Mother’s Day.” Women are unique and loving beings that God created and introduced into the human family. Without them, no family could truly be considered a family. This acknowledgment has become common knowledge. We want to especially dedicate our message to: i) all mothers—defined as all mature women who, in one way or another, have cared for some child or children, whether their own or someone else’s; and ii) all married women who are waiting on the Lord for the fruit of the womb—a child. The latter group must also be applauded for their patience and love in nurturing their “child-husband” while they wait to experience real labor. We praise God as we celebrate mothers and motherhood today.
God will always step in to fulfill His promise in alignment with His purpose. The evidence of His actions at the appropriate time is abundant in the Bible and in daily human experience. We praise God for His support in helping all mothers care for one or more of the children He has allowed to be born into this world. The pre-, peri-, and post-natal experiences are God-guided, and as we appreciate God, we want to celebrate, commend, and thank mothers for what they have endured to help us reflect human beings in stature and character.
Promise #78 illustrates God’s power to authorize conception and delivery according to His timetable. He sends angels when the time is due. Luke 1:28,30 states, “[28] And having come in, the angel said to her, ‘Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” [30] Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” The angel announces the good tidings and states, “You have found favor with God.” Women waiting in the wings to have their own have the assurance in verse 37 that: “For with God nothing will be impossible.” Further, verse 45 states: “Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”
While there may be significant differences, some societies perceive that childbearing is everything and therefore put pressure on women who have not yet conceived. For such women, do not fret; take it calmly. You do not create; God does. Only wait on Him. Collaborate with Him and let His glory shine forth. Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, Manoah’s wife, Hannah, Elizabeth, etc., waited in the wings, and when their expectations were fulfilled, their end was glorious. Congratulations to all mothers, foster mothers, and mothers-in-waiting.

MY SONG OF COMMITMENT

“My Tribute – To God be The Glory” rendered by Natalie Grant and Cece Winans
LET US PRAY

– Praise and thank God for your mother. Pray to be a godly mother if you are a woman and, for a man, a delightful and loving supporter of mothers. Pray for all mothers.

– Pray for married women who are waiting for God’s gift of a child, for pregnant women, and for women in labor. Pray for mothers with postpartum complications.

– Pray for women who have recently experienced spontaneous abortion (miscarriage), stillbirth, or neonatal and postneonatal deaths. Pray for women who have become unwell due to pregnancy or childbirth-related challenges. Pray for mothers who have lost a child(ren).

– Pray for husbands and children to love, appreciate, commend, celebrate, uphold, and be fond of their own and other mothers and for other mother figures in our society.
