THEME: PROMISE #51 – THE WEAK RECEIVE POWER; THE PATIENT, RENEWED STRENGTH
SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 40:29-31
“[29]He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. [30]Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, [31]But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
REFLECTIONS
Each person of faith should be convinced that we require no strength to do good that God will not graciously provide. Promises to this effect abound in the Bible. One remarkable biblical promise is our Promise #51, recorded in Isaiah 40:29-31: “[29]He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. [30]Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, [31]But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” This resonates with all who trust God.
When you feel tempted to belittle God’s knowledge and power, review the verse preceding today’s promise. Verse 28 poses thought-provoking questions, asking: “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.” Just be quiet and watch the Lord, for you are dealing with a significant Person; you are privileged to be in the presence of the Almighty God, the Everlasting Lord, Omnipresent Savior, and King of the Universe. You should approach Him in awe because He does marvelous things.
Do you feel weak spiritually, physically, and mentally? God promises to give you power and increase strength to the weary and those with no might. The more you depend on Him, the more strength you gain. This is true, and it is a fact you can prove. Your strength will surpass, outshine, and outweigh the youth known for their exuberance and energy. Any believer whose strength exceeds that of youth occupies a privileged class that only God can establish. Yet, God will place the weak but trusting in this privileged class. Do you find it burdensome to pray? Have you lost your taste and love for life? Have you lost your zest for waiting? It may be that God is yet to begin with you as you make yourself available to Him.
Note that the Lord makes it easy for you to renew your strength. But one condition must be fulfilled—learn to be patient and persevering in prayer. Spasmodic, intermittent, and a lack of commitment in prayers do not produce miracles. Faith that endures, persists, and trusts unwaveringly will bring wonders through the power of God. Take nothing into your hands. Today, as you make time for the Lord Jesus in your hectic schedule, He will enable you to “mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint.” In the name of Jesus, you will be a testimony this week and this month. Your strength will come, and your joy will be complete.
