Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have received a significant boost as Serene Insurance LTD unveiled a comprehensive support package combining financial backing and player protection for the national team, the Black Stars.
The company announced a GHS2 million cash contribution alongside a GHS20 million Group Personal Accident Insurance cover to safeguard players, technical staff, and selected supporters during the tournament period from June 1 to July 31, 2026.
The insurance package provides a cover of GHS100,000 for each player, GHS30,000 for technical team members, and GHS10,000 for sponsored supporters. The 24-hour policy protects against injury or death resulting from accidents throughout the competition.
The announcement comes on the back of Ghana’s official fundraising drive toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup, launched by President John Dramani Mahama in Accra. The campaign aims to raise US$30 million to fund the team’s participation and preparatory international friendlies ahead of the global tournament scheduled for June 11 to July 19, 2026, across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Chief Executive Officer of Serene Insurance, Mercy Naa Koshie Boampong, described the initiative as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to national pride and sporting excellence. Read Also: GoldBod Rewards NACOC With GH¢12.6 Million Gold Seizure Proceeds

Serene Insurance’s intervention adds to a wave of corporate and individual pledges aimed at ensuring Ghana’s strong representation at the Mundial. The company, a member of the First Sky Group, continues to build its reputation as a fast-growing and innovative player in Ghana’s insurance industry.
With a growing national footprint, strong financial base, and multiple industry recognitions, the company says its latest contribution underscores its belief in investing in sports as a pathway to national development and global recognition.

As the countdown to the World Cup begins, the combined financial and insurance backing is expected to enhance the Black Stars’ preparation, morale, and security as they aim to make a lasting impact on football’s biggest stage.
