PureEden Foundation (PEF), a non-profit organisation, has donated about 100 packs of sanitary pads to girl-children at Ntraban Methodist Basic School and Yaara Roman Catholic (R/C) Basic School in the Bono East Region. The maiden donation by the foundation was done by its Associate Executive Director, Ms. Louisa Mensah, who was accompanied by Ato Dennis Keelson, a journalist , and Madam Akosuah Danquah, a community development specialist.
The brief and exciting ceremony took place at the Ntraban Methodist Basic School at Ntraban on Friday, May 24, 2023, and formed part of the organisation’s mission to support health, education, and economic empowerment of people in rural communities. Forty-seven (47) girl-children from both Ntraban M/A and Yaara R/C Basic Schools received the sanitary pads.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Mensah expressed her gratitude to the school administration, teachers, and staff for their efforts in providing quality education to the students. She encouraged the students to take their education seriously, as they are the future leaders and innovators of society.
The donation was in commemoration of the upcoming World Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28, 2024, which has the theme “Together for a Period Friendly World”. Ms. Mensah emphasised the importance of menstrual health and the need to break the stigma surrounding menstruation. She lamented the situation where young school girls miss school because they are menstruating. “PureEden Foundation believes that every girl and young woman deserves access to safe and dignified menstrual health, and hopes that this donation will make a positive impact on the lives of the students,” she said.
According to her, PEF is committed to working with communities to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. “The donation was a significant step towards supporting menstrual health and education for rural communities, and PureEden Foundation’s commitment to creating a brighter future for all was evident in the smiles of the girl-children who received the sanitary pads,” the Associate Executive Director of PEF stated.

The Headmaster of Ntraban Methodist Basic School, Patakoh Kwame Mensah, thanked management of PEF for their generous donation on behalf of the two schools. He noted that the donation will help young girl-children in the two schools stay healthy during their menstrual cycle. However, he made a passionate appeal to the management of PEF to come to the aid of the school in renovating some of its buildings and providing them with teaching and learning materials.
Before the donation, Ms. Mensah and Akosuah Danquah demonstrated to the girls how to use the sanitary pads.
