The Ghana Police Service has concluded investigations into allegations that international businesswoman Niharika Handa and her son, Punarvasu Handa, fraudulently obtained Ghanaian travel documents, finding no evidence of wrongdoing and officially closing the case.
A report from the Documentation and Visa Fraud Unit (DVU) of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), sighted by this publication, indicates that the investigation stemmed from a petition lodged on September 29, 2025, by Amar Deep Sing Hari.

As part of the inquiry, investigators sought information from several state institutions, including the Passport Office, National Identification Authority (NIA), Ghana Immigration Service, Registrar-General’s Department, and the Indian High Commission in Accra.
The investigation established that both Niharika Handa and her son are Indian nationals who subsequently acquired Ghanaian citizenship through the legal process of naturalisation. Read Also: G-Water Bottling Targets Stronger Market Presence
According to the police findings, Mrs Handa was granted Ghanaian citizenship on July 8, 2022, and later obtained a Ghanaian passport on July 22, 2022. Her son, Punarvasu Handa, was naturalised as a Ghanaian citizen on December 19, 2023, and secured his Ghanaian passport on May 21, 2024.
After reviewing all relevant records and documentation, investigators found no basis for the allegations that the two had acquired their Ghanaian documents through false declarations. The case was subsequently closed.
Reacting to the outcome, Mrs Handa expressed appreciation for the conduct of the investigation and reaffirmed her confidence in Ghana’s legal and judicial institutions. http://dailydemocratnewsonline.com

“I am grateful to the investigating authorities for their thorough and impartial work, and I have complete confidence in the integrity of Ghana’s justice system,” she said.
She noted that while related matters remain before the courts and other authorities, she would refrain from making further public comments.
“Out of respect for the legal process, and because related matters remain before the courts and the authorities, I do not intend to comment on those proceedings. I am content to let the proper legal channels take their course, confident that the facts will be assessed fairly and in accordance with the law,” she added.
Mrs Handa and her son further stated that they would not make any additional public statements on matters currently before the courts or under consideration by authorities in Ghana.
