The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has once again demonstrated its commitment to Ghana’s border security and migration management by donating a 62-seater Eicher Starline Bus to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS). The donation, made through the German Federal Police and Embassy in Accra, underscores the deepening cooperation between the two nations.
At a brief ceremony held on Thursday, 30th April 2025, Ghana’s Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, expressed the Government’s heartfelt appreciation for the donation, describing it as “a testament to the enduring friendship and mutual respect between Ghana and Germany.”
“This donation is about our friendship, which represents the spirit of generosity of the people of the Federal Republic of Germany,” the Minister noted. He added that such international collaborations are essential to equipping the GIS to manage migration effectively and protect Ghana’s borders.
Hon. Muntaka commended the German Federal Police for their consistent support and called on other diplomatic missions in Ghana to emulate Germany’s proactive and practical approach to partnership.
German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Daniel Krull, highlighted the trusted and demand-driven nature of the cooperation between the two countries. Referring to earlier support, including the provision of a mobile maintenance truck, the Ambassador said the relationship is based on trust, continuity, and listening to the real needs of Ghana’s immigration authorities.
“Our approach is demand-driven, where we ask what you need and deliver on our promises. This bus is a result of that process,” Ambassador Krull emphasized. He lauded the GIS for its professionalism and expressed confidence that the cooperation will remain fruitful even as diplomatic leadership evolves.
The Acting Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Service.
“This donation is timely and will go a long way in supporting our logistical needs, especially for troop movement and operational deployments,” he said. “We look forward to continued engagement with our German counterparts.”
The ceremony was attended by officials from the German Embassy, German Federal Police, senior officers of the Ghana Immigration Service, and members of the media.
