GoldBod Adopts LBMA Pricing System For Gold Trading

Date:

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has officially begun implementing a new gold pricing regime based on the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) pricing system, a move aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and international alignment in Ghana’s gold trading sector.
The new regime, which took effect on Tuesday, July 1, 2026, introduces two official gold purchase prices each trading day, corresponding to the LBMA AM and PM pricing windows.
Under the arrangement, the AM pricing window will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m., while the PM pricing window will cover 2:30 p.m. to 9:20 a.m. the following day.
To ensure all transactions are matched with the correct pricing period, GoldBod has also introduced mandatory real-time booking of all gold purchases. Licensed Gold Buyers must book purchases within the designated booking windows: 9:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. for the AM session, and 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., as well as 6:00 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. the following day, for the PM session. As part of the new system, GoldBod will suspend trading and booking for brief periods between pricing windows—from 2:21 p.m. to 2:29 p.m. and 9:21 a.m. to 9:29 a.m.—to facilitate a smooth transition. No transactions or bookings will be accepted during these intervals.
The Board stressed that all purchases must be booked in real time and strictly within the approved booking windows. Any booking submitted outside the stipulated periods or during the suspension intervals will be rejected and automatically assigned to the next applicable pricing window. http://www.ghanaweb.com
GoldBod urged all licensed gold buyers to adjust their trading operations to ensure full compliance with the new pricing and booking requirements.
The Board said stakeholders seeking further information or clarification should contact GoldBod through its official communication channels.
