DVLA Urges Public to Ignore Fake Fine Messages-1

Date:

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has issued a strong warning to the public over a growing scam involving fake SMS messages that fraudulently demand payment of purported DVLA fines through unauthorized online platforms.
According to the Authority, fraudsters are sending text messages containing links that direct unsuspecting recipients to fake websites where they are asked to pay alleged traffic or vehicle-related fines. In some cases, the scammers entice victims with claims of discounted fines or pressure them with urgent payment deadlines.
The DVLA stressed that these messages are fraudulent and should be ignored. It emphasized that it does not offer discounts on fines under any circumstances and cautioned the public against engaging with any individual, website, or platform making such claims. The Authority clarified that all legitimate online payments for DVLA services must be made exclusively through the Government of Ghana’s official payment platform, Ghana.gov.gh. It further noted that its only official website is dvla.gov.gh, warning that any other website, shortened link, or payment portal claiming to represent the DVLA should be treated as suspicious.
The DVLA advised members of the public not to click on unknown links, disclose personal information, or make payments through unofficial channels. It encouraged citizens to verify all DVLA-related information through its recognized offices, official website, and approved communication platforms. http://dailydemocratnewsonline.com
The Authority also urged anyone who receives suspicious SMS messages purporting to be from the DVLA to report them to the nearest DVLA office or the appropriate law enforcement agency for investigation and action.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety and service integrity, the DVLA assured the public that it will continue working to protect citizens from fraudulent schemes while ensuring that all official transactions are conducted through secure and approved channels.
