The Founder of Africa World Airlines (AWA), Togbe Afede XIV, has expressed delight at the arrival of the airline’s first Embraer E190 aircraft, describing it as an important milestone in AWA’s mission to connect Africa and link the continent to the world.
In his welcome address,Togbe Afede XIV said the arrival of the new aircraft aligns with AWA’s vision of “Touching Africa, touching the world.”
He noted that the new aircraft comes on the back of the relaunch of the Accra-Abidjan-Accra route on August 31, 2026, and is the first of several aircraft the airline plans to acquire over the next year as it expands its regional operations.
Appreciation
Togbe Afede expressed gratitude to the Government of Ghana, the Chinese Government, AWA’s partners including Hainan Airlines and SSNIT, as well as loyal customers, management, staff, pilots and engineers for their continued support.
He welcomed the government’s recent import duty exemptions for domestic airlines and expressed AWA’s readiness to support efforts towards establishing a national carrier. Read Also: GSA Trains 264 Inspectors to Protect Consumers Nationwide
He acknowledged the significant challenges facing domestic aviation, including high costs of imported inputs, foreign-exchange pressures, limited passenger numbers and restricted airport operating hours, which he said contribute to higher operating costs and make it difficult to establish direct air connections between many African countries.
Despite these difficulties, Togbe Afede XIV noted that AWA has remained resilient and recorded its first dividend after thirteen years of operations, assuring stakeholders of the airline’s commitment to staying the course and supporting the growth of Ghana and Africa.
He therefore called for continued support from customers, partners and stakeholders as AWA pursues its vision of “Touching Africa, touching the world.” https://dailydemocratnewsonline.com/
