THEME: IN HONOR OF THE CREATOR GOD: PART II
SCRIPTURE: Psalms 104:24,33
“[24]O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom, You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions— [33]I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.”
REFLECTIONS
It is impossible to exhaust our expressions of gratitude and praise to God. The more and deeper we consider His creation, the better and more insightful our appreciation and love for God become. We cannot find anybody alive who is not surviving on God’s grace and providence. Compared to other gods we have known, his creative ability makes him outstanding, unique, and supreme. It is excellent to praise the LORD.
Psalms 104 broadly acknowledges God’s creation in seven days. Verse 24 proclaims His wonderment: “O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions.”—The part that should continue to give us joy, peace, and hope is that He provides for all His creatures. All the creatures wait on God for their food – even the young lions (v. 21). Verse 27 acknowledges, “These all wait for You, That You may give them their food in due season.” Honestly, other things may wait, but God cannot wait to provide for the needs of all His creatures. Nobody would go hungry and be deficient if it were not for greediness. Even for those in dire circumstances, He has 1001 ways to feed them.
His supplies are constant, unfailing, and come in due season. He provides to meet every diverse need—the ants and the elephants receive theirs, too. Verse 28 admits: “What You give them they gather in; You open Your hand, they are filled with good.” – That is our God! James 1:17 affirms, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” His glory will endure forever, and His goodness will be celebrated, so the psalmist announces: “I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” -Psalms 104:33.
Individually, we can declare with the psalmist: “May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the LORD.” Our praises for God will never end; He is our excellent benefactor. The dry places in our lives, He will refresh. In verse 30, the role of the Holy Spirit comes into play: “You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth.” The Spirit creates and sustains life. Therefore, “May the glory of the Lord endure forever; May the Lord rejoice in His works.” – verse 31. In love and confidence, we declare: “Bless the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD!
MY SONG OF COMMITMENT
SDAH 341 – “TO GOD BE THE GLORY”
LET US PRAY
– Praise and thank the LORD for His lovingkindness, salvation, defense, and the great things He has done in your life;
– Praise God for your family (nucleus and extended), friends and loved ones, members of your church, your benefactors, neighbors, those who pray for you and seek your welfare;
– Praise God for His word, promises, and the miracles He performs in our lives; thank God for providing and sustaining the people you know;
– Praise and thank God for the peace we enjoy, His intervention to prevent the enemy from causing mayhem, and the hope of His presence to bless and prosper us.
