Bangkok Passenger Busted at Accra Airport with Drugs

Date:

A South African passenger, Andile Mitchel Mdluli, was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Friday, April 25, 2025, for attempting to traffic narcotic substances into Ghana.

The suspect, who was traveling from Bangkok, Thailand, and transited through Dubai, arrived in Accra aboard an Emirates flight. Officers of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) were conducting routine narcotics checks on all Emirates passengers when Mdluli was stopped for profiling at around 12:30 p.m.

During questioning, Mdluli confirmed that she had started her journey in Bangkok. A search of her two checked-in bags uncovered 15 black wraps concealed inside one of the bags. A field test on the substances tested positive for cannabis, with a gross weight of 16.28 kilograms.

Mdluli was immediately arrested and taken into custody for further investigations.
