FRIDAY
THEME: WORKING FAITH“

SCRIPTURE: John 9:4
“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”

REFLECTIONS

Our meditation for today is working faith as Jesus demonstrated it in His life. Yesterday we referred to James, the Elder, who challenged us to have faith that works or faith that inspires us to be obedient to God and do His will – faith that can be seen by the works that are done.
Working faith relates to the choice to make God’s will first in one’s life.  Faith in God must characterize all our decisions and actions. The concept of God first – Exodus 20:3, “You shall have no other gods before Me,” is key to our relationship with Him. Jesus said in John 8:29 – “And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” Working faith seeks to put to the fore, that which will please God.
Working faith requires that daily, we are conscious about our purpose in life and we pursue it with passion so God will be glorified. Jesus and His disciples met a man who was born blind. The disciples inquired, as to whose sin caused his blindness – the parents or himself?   “[3]Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. [4]I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” – John 9:3-4. His work must be done now.

Even as a boy when Jesus’ parents complained that He did not join them on their return trip from Jerusalem to Nazareth, “. . . He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” Luke 2:49. Remaining conscious about our purpose in life is the key to success, peace, complete dependence on God, and victory.  What aspect of your Father’s work do you pursue daily? Do you have a working faith experience? Paul counsels, “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labour of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”- Hebrews 6:10. Working faith has a reward.

MY SONG OF COMMITMENT
SDAH 225 – “God is Working His Purpose Out”

LET US PRAY

– Praise and thank God for His saving grace; thank Him for the privilege to work with Him; pray for the Holy Spirit to help you emulate Jesus;

– Pray for all Christians whose desire is to honour God in all their endeavours;

– Pray for people in need, people in communities that face severe drought, refugees, and the fear of God among the youth;

– Pray for the peace and unity of the nation; pray for peaceful elections ahead; intercede for the sick, single parents, and relatives and acquaintances who are in the valley of indecision.
