GEMS FOR MEDITATION AND PRAYER

THEME FOR THE WEEK: PRIVILEGED RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD“

SUNDAY

THEME: GOD INITIATED THE RELATIONSHIP

SCRIPTURE: Psalms 139:13-14
“[13]For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. [14]I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”

REFLECTIONS:

It is heartwarming to learn that we belong to God by creation first and foremost. He decided to create us. He chose, and He did. It takes faith to believe in God as our creator, as it does with the theory of evolution. But which of the assertions – creation or evolution has adequate bases for verification? We play it safe if we ride on the word of God. Our finite minds do not and cannot attempt to fathom the deep things of God. The preponderance of evidence in His word affirms our belief and faith in a Creator God. Considering the human body with the rest of nature, there is ample evidence of a Creator-God who made us and to whom we owe allegiance.
David is one of the few privileged individuals to receive insight from the Holy Spirit about our creation and, by extension, the origin of our relationship with God. Life can only be meaningful once you know where you are coming from, who made you, and whom you should relate to.  The meaningfulness of human life is primarily adduced to relationships – vertical and horizontal. That we relate to God, the Creator from above, and to human beings – our family members and social connections – gives us a clear essence of life.
By inspiration, David wrote, “[13]For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. [14]I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” – Psalms 139:13-14. We will not attempt to delve into the details of the complex nature of the human body, but it will suffice to say we are a wonderful creature. Human anatomy and physiology are convincing enough to give us a glimpse of our inestimable value. So, we are made by God, and He takes care of us. He relates to us, talks to us, and reveals Himself to enable us to attain His ultimate purpose for our lives. Our value is priceless.

To elaborate further on our relationship with God, Isaiah 43:7 declares, “Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” We are made with a purpose, for His glory. For this reason, God assures us in unambiguous terms in Jeremiah 29:11-12 – “[11]For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. [12]Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.” What a privilege to be so connected to the Creator of the universe – having direct and unhindered access to the Almighty God is only a privilege.
I choose to believe that I was made by God rather than accept my origins from the point of view of evolution. If you believe, God will reveal Himself fully to you in a lasting relationship He has established.

MY SONG OF COMMITMENT:
“Now In a Song of Grateful Praise”

LET US PRAY

– Praise and thank God for a new week; thank Him for the plans He has for you this week, His leading, and blessings; pray to treasure and give evidence of the relationship God has established with you;

– Pray for your family members and all believers to have a strong bond of relationship with God, fear, and revere Him;

– Pray for atheists, evolutionists, and unbelievers; pray for people who are searching for the truth, newly born-again Christians, Bible instructors, evangelists, and ministers of the gospel;

– Pray for human beings in general to have a good understanding and commitment to their relationship with God and others; pray for the country, especially the youth and children.
