Managing Editor for Environmental Guide Writes: Are Ghanaians Ready For Independent President?

Date:

A lot of people have expressed interest in contesting as independent Presidential Candidates in the coming 2024 general elections, with the excuse of rescuing the country from mismanagement.

Already, the majority of Ghanaians, are of the view that if well-structured political parties are being chastised for mishandling the country’s economy, then what can an Independent Presidential Candidate do differently especially, Candidates who have not experienced Governance before?

Others also want to know how prepared and readiness of an Independent Presidential Candidate wants the ordinary Ghanaian to entrust the destiny of the country into his or her hand and what extraordinary policies and programmes bringing on board to move the nation forward.

Even though people are waiting to see the day that a third force will emerge in the country to give both the NPP and NDC a real showdown, that does not mean they are ready to accept anything.

The third force expectation according to people interacted with, has to do with the emergence of all the smaller political parties to face the NPP and the NDC and not an Independent Presidential Candidate to represent the expected 3rd force.

However, the recent movement to be added to the already existing and eager seeking for the mandate of Ghanaians in the coming 2024 general elections has to do with the “Save The Nation Movement” with Desmond Kwame Abrefah as the Independent Presidential Candidate.

Mr. Abrefah at a press conference disclosed that, among the reasons for joining the Presidential race in the coming 2024 general elections is based on the realization that the focus of the country and where it’s heading towards is not what the people expect it to be.

“Our water bodies, lands, and other natural resources are being destroyed without having anyone fixing them up”.

Again, he is joining the race because the youth are also suffering due to the hardships and unemployment in the country.

He says the youths prefer enslaving themselves in other countries rather than staying in Ghana to exhibit the knowledge they have acquired to help the growth of the country.

Desmond Kwame Abrefah was of the view that the country’s ambitions for choosing leaders are in the wrong direction because, people all the time end up choosing leaders with selfish interests to work with their party members, those around them, and family members without focusing on the growth of the country.

Ghana he indicated, has no future because of the slow pace of the level of development due to lack of vision by the leaders.

“Our roads, markets, health centers, and educational Structures are not up to standard as compared to most developing and developed countries across the globe. Our maintenance culture also shows our country has no future. When we Procure something and it develops challenges no one cares about it, we dispose of it and raise huge sums of money to acquire new ones”.

He averred that every country develops by training engineers to build herself sayin, Gana is not doing well in that regard when it comes to the development of the country. “We have realized that our leaders are not training the youth to take over their places because they think it should be theirs only, for their families and party members”.

Mr. Desmond Kwame Abrefah believes that he is a leader who can move Ghana to the next level saying that blacks also have the wisdom and knowledge to run their affairs without always running to the whites for ideological support.

“| am such kind of a leader and that is why “The Save the Nation Movement” came to rescue the country and to place it where every good country aims to be Where every good country intends to be, that is where | will move Ghana to with Ghanaians supports when elected as President of the Republic come December 2024”.

He has promised to retrieve all Government properties that are unkept by the past leaders. “This is my vision and | am pleading to Ghanaians to come and join the ‘Save the Nation Movement’ for us to collectively move Ghana to the next level All those who have our country at heart should come and join the movement so we can fight harder and fix our country”.

Mr. Abrefah has further promised to establish a “politically inclusive government” where every individual, regardless of party affiliation has something good to offer the nation.

The fact of the matter is, for Ghanaians to accept and replace any Independent Presidential Candidate as their third force, that Candidate has to prove beyond the expectations of the people and is ever ready to provide alternative solutions that are achievable unlike the normal solutions being provided always by the political parties but yet, no solution is found.

Moreover, the above promises stated by Desmond Kwame Abrefah cannot be said to be different from those of the political parties that are always made, and yet nothing better comes out of it.

If indeed, an Independent Presidential Candidate like Kwame Abrefah and other Independent Candidates want to carry on their heads the heavy cross of the entire nation, then it is their responsibility to provide better hope, especially for the youth by knowing what exactly the people want.
