The Nurse Manager of Parambo Clinic Mrs. Bekoe said, the typhoid fever has been been with them since due to bad sanitary conditions along the Volta lake as most people drink from the Volta Lake but the recent outbreak is very terrible that most of the severe case were referred to Matthias Hospital in the District Capital Yéji.

Mr. Ramseyer Ahmed, the District Health Director, explained the possibility of an epidemic due the recent floods that have washed all the waste on the land into the lake. Especially the fact is our District lack seriously challenged in Sanitation issues. No public toilets in most of the communities along the lake and lack of proper treatment of waste in the District.
Hence, they put up a surveillance team which upon their monitoring started recording the Typhoid cases. The health directorate therefore organized stakeholder engagements with the communities to give education on the situation. He said there’s a serious typhoid fever they have recorded but there’s no casualty.
